Today was the girls' first day of preschool. They have been oh-so-excited for a very long time waiting for this day to come! We talked about school a lot around the Rethman house and we did everything to be prepared before the actual day arrived. We purchased backpacks months ago, we shopped for the only two school supplies they needed (tissues and paper towels) and let them choose the coolest tissue boxes we could find, we laid out our clothes the night before and packed our backpacks with the coloring page their teachers sent for them to do before school started and the special presents we made for each teacher. This morning when we woke up we found out that Genoa schools had a two-hour delay and when that happens our preschool starts an hour late so instead of starting at 9:00, school now began at 10:00, which sadly meant Daddy couldn't go with us to drop them off anymore. Mommy still got to though! We had yummy blueberry muffins that I made, bananas and orange juice for breakfast. They got a bath this morning and I even had time to paint their fingers and toes because of the delay. We, of course, took a ton of pictures. At 9:25 we couldn't wait any longer so we headed to school early. We were the first ones there but others arrived soon after.

At the doors of the school about to walk in.
Pictures with our cousin, Sophie!
Watching Payne walk up.
I just LOVE all of these little girls!!!
One of our teachers, Mrs. Skees (aka Nana). Mrs. Cuthbertson was busy taking care of a lot of things around the room and I didn't get to take her picture with them but we will on their first special helper day, October 2nd. The name tags show which groups they are put in for small group activities. Mya is a Frog Friend and Stella is a Bear Buddy. Nana said she always splits twins up and I wasn't sure how I felt about that but they each have special friends with them. Sophie, Payne, Tegan, and Jax are all friends of ours from before school so they will be fine.
Off playing in the kitchen/house area already!
Aunt Shirley, my mom's sister, just retired from teaching high school this past school year and offered to come for the first few weeks or so of school to help with all of the grandchildren in the class. My mom has both of our girls and my niece, Sophie in the class and Mrs. Cuthbertson has her grandson, Adam, in the class. So in the class of 16 kids, 4 of them are grandchildren of the teachers and we just weren't sure how that would go over. The girls all love Aunt Shirley so she was a very welcome addition! Here she is talking to Mya and Soph in the kitchen area.
Stella didn't want to look up at me while she was playing but how cute is the other little girl with the big red and purple bow. She posed instantly for me! :)
Our buddy, Jax, arrived! He came to show Stella his apple that he colored.
Adorable Payne! She's a Bear Buddy with Stella!
Time for Mommy to go...... Mya's eyes crack me up in this picture. The girls were so comfortable with absolutely no separation issues. I really didn't think they would have any and it wasn't even because it was Nana's school. They acclimate pretty easily to new surroundings. It was harder for me than them.
They had an absolutely wonderful day and they loved school. They are so excited to go back on Thursday! I can't believe we are to this stage in their lives already and I know from here on out it will just fly. I plan to take every moment in and just enjoy each stage as it comes! I love, love, love my sweet little preschoolers!!!
