It has been almost an entire year since I've blogged and to be really honest I haven't missed doing it. I do, however, love to look back at my blog and so I've decided that I need to get back to it because there is so much I will want to remember down the road.
I'm not planning to do separate posts about everything that has happened over the last year but instead a general catching up, with a few highlights from each month. Hopefully, from here I can continue to keep it up and be on top of things so this doesn't happen again.
So I left all of you hanging (haha! I know you could hardly stand it!) last July before our amazing Tennessee vacation. We drove down to Cornersville, TN, which is outside of Nashville for the first leg of our trip. We stayed at my aunt and uncle's amazing horse farm. They have 33 beautiful, sprawling acres and just the most amazing view. We relaxed, rode ATVs, kayaked, hiked to a waterfall, swam in a horse trough, visited Nashville, rode horses and completely enjoyed ourselves!
We then headed to Memphis to visit another of my aunts. It was about a 4 hour drive from where we were. Tennessee is so beautiful so we didn't mind the drive. In Memphis, our very first stop was to watch the ducks march at the Peabody Hotel. We then went to my aunt's absolutely amazing house on Mud Island! We ate some real Southern BBQ and took a walk along the Mississippi River. We also so Justin Timberlake's house because he has a house a few blocks from my aunt. We also took a tour of Memphis, checked out Graceland and the Lorraine Hotel where MLK Jr. was killed. We walked through a really cool stone cut-out of the Mississippi river in a park. We ate delicious food, played games, jumped at Sky Zone and had a fabulous time! This whole trip was completely awesome!
In August, we hosted our first (hopefully annual) camping trip with the Garman family. We don't own a camper but they do and have asked us to go with them several times. We improvised by having them bring their camper to our yard and we "camped" at our own house! It was super fun! We played on the swing set and bounce house, cooked hot dogs on the campfire (along with many other yummy cook-out sides), made s'mores and campfire elephant ears, ran around and had a great time! After the kids were tucked in the adults enjoyed some beverages around the fire! Can't wait to do that again!
Here are a few other cute random pictures from the July and August, 2013.
I'm sure I forgot many things about the summer but since it was a year ago I have to jog my memory with pictures. I do remember that we had a great summer with lots of fun and relaxation - just as it should be!
