Cookies With Grandma

Saturday morning the girls and I headed over to my grandparents house to make Easter cookies. My grandma makes the most delicious sugar cookies and has included her grandkids since we were tiny and now she continues with her great-grandchildren! My mom, Ashley, Will and Sophie joined us at Grandma's house for a fun morning.
I have lots of pictures of me as a child doing this very same thing but they are all at my parents' house I can't scan them to add to this post. All of the cousins and aunts come over to Grandma's and we all make cut-out sugar cookies. If you weren't cutting out the cookies, you were busy at work "painting" the cookies with food colored beat egg. Grandma frosted around our paintings. Normally we do this at Christmas time but we had a family member pass away this year and so Grandma wanted to move it to Easter. She decided to not have the kiddos paint the cookies because they were so young so we just cut-out the cookies and she sent them home with us to frost. Grandma's dough is soooo yummy and we always would sneak bites of it. That is still true with our kiddos! Sophie literally had mouth fulls every time it was her turn. It was hilarious and I definitely can't blame her!
After the cookies are done we always eat pizza and play. So many things change throughout our lives and so it was so nice to do something with my girls that I always did as a child. My grandma is one of the most important people in my life and I love sharing my children's lives with her. She always makes her family her number one priority and I have so many happy memories with her! She is incredibly supportive and giving! I love you Grandma and want to thank you so much for a wonderful day!
After we ate we headed home for a nap. When the girls got up I put them in their high chairs and had them help me frost the cookies with strawberry frosting using a plastic spoon of course. We also added sprinkles to the cookies. Mya was not interested in helping at all and instead devoured the first cookie I handed her! Stella was very helpful but also enjoyed eating a cookie. She even dipped it in extra frosting when she was finished. I think she has a serious sweet tooth!

This post makes me want to cry! That is AWESOME that your children get to experience the same traditions that you did with your grandma when you were younger. I am lucky to have one grandma still living, but I wish more than anything that my Grandma Appelhans would've gotten to meet my kids (and Kris).
