Beach Bums

This summer we didn't plan any  vacations but instead we just plan to do a bunch of fun activities close by that are cheaper.  One really fun place is Maumee Bay, which is only about 15 minutes away.  It's a man-made lake and so sadly the sand is more like rough dirt and the water isn't pretty but the kids don't care and never want to leave.  We loaded up all of our super fun, new beach toys and hit the road.  We were meeting our friends, Kelly and Kris, and their kiddos there.  Being teachers, Kelly, Wes and I have every day off and Kris is a cop so he has a different schedule that allows little day trips.  We had so much fun and will definitely be doing it again soon.  The Garmans left before lunch, but we had a picnic on the beach and it was perfect!  They had quite the appetite after swimming and playing and then followed it up with a great nap at home!   It was a wonderful day!

This was too cute.  Jax wanted to fill a hole with water because this cool new bucket we got had a little shower hose on it.  Wes obliged and held the bucket for Jax.  They only had to fill it up like 75 times. :)

Coolest sand toy award goes to the cookie cutter set that Aunt Ashley got them for their birthday!  It was a huge hit!
