A Visit With the Borjas Family

Last weekend our little family and Brittany and Troy packed up my dad's Expedition and headed out to Round Lake, Illinois (near Chicago) to visit our wonderful friends, Lindsey and Curt, who just had a new baby girl at the end of January. Juliana Jolene is absolutely adorable! Curt is in the Marine Corp. and they just moved back to the U.S. last July after being stationed in Okinawa, Japan for 3 years. We missed them a ton and are so glad they are within driving distance for at least the next 2 years. We had a full car load driving there with all of the things that come with traveling with two babies and four adults! It was about a 6 hour drive and I was so nervous before we left. The girls do great in the car but we haven't gone farther than 2 hours with them. Plus, Brittany and Troy don't have any kids yet and I thought that this trip might be some pretty strong birth control for them and I really want them to have kids ~ LOL! However, the girls were absolute angels! On the way there, they slept for about 2 hours as soon as we left. Then they woke up and were content to just play with the few small toys that I brought. We stopped about half way through so that I could feed them and then they played and took another short cat nap. They didn't cry or fuss once! I was so impressed.
Snoozin'...Just putting on my lipstick.....Great Grandma Skees would be so proud!
Stella loves her some paci! Shhh don't tell Dr. Carmen LOL
When we arrived we got to meet the beautiful little bundle of cuteness that is Juliana Jolene! She is such a sweet baby and her parents are absolutely in love with her. We spent the weekend just hanging out. It was wonderful. We ordered some awesome deep dish Chicago pizza on Friday night and cooked a yummy dinner on Saturday. We played with our babies and got to catch up. Lindsey switched Juliana to cloth diapers and she convinced me this weekend that it is smarter, cheaper and better for the environment. I am pretty certain we are going to make the switch. It is a big initial investment but it will save us a ton in the long run. I had a lot of misconceptions about them and Lindsey cleared them up. The girls even borrowed some of Juliana's so we could test them out. All in all, we had a great weekend and I can't wait to see them again soon.
Chow time!Happy girl! I can't even stand how cute she looks in this picture!
